Learning as I go

Hello, and Welcome

Hi, my name is Mohini. I’ve been on a journey for the past several years that many would refer to as a “personal growth journey.” I dislike this phrase intensely because of the imagery it connotes. I’ll admit, I have been frequenting coffee shops and reading self help books, but in the simplest terms, I’ve been trying to learn as much as I can about how to live, and ideally how to live well.

Like so many people my age (30-something) I’m plagued by questions like, “What the hell am I doing with my life?” “What should I be doing with my life?” “How do you find your purpose when you don’t even know yourself?” The process of answering these questions for me has looked like trying and failing and finally developing a reading habit, falling down YouTube rabbit holes around therapy, philosophy and psychology, dozens of TED Talks watched from my couch, wanting to be healthier and realizing it requires a complete lifestyle overhaul, starting with my mind, etc.

I still consider myself to be early in my journey, but I have already learned so much. From here, I’d like to start sharing what I’ve been learning, as every time I do it results in conversations that fill me with more inspiration and curiosity, and I hope this can be helpful to someone, too. There have been countless stories I’ve read along the way from people on their own journeys, and I’ve lost track of the amount of times I’ve been able to read just what I needed to get me through a tough moment—simply because someone took the time to share what they had been through. If I can do the same for even one reader, I will consider these writings a rousing success.

In that spirit, once a week (ish) I will write about my latest fascinations, interesting concepts I’m learning about, and insights from the experiments I’m running with my life. For however much of my journey you accompany me on, welcome and thank you for being with me.
